Flood Relief

After the unbelievable flood on August 26th, 2026 — it looked like something only possible with special effects in a Hollywood movie — there was an immediate outpouring of aid from all over the world. Food donations in particular were plentiful, which was good news, but many families who lost everything were not able to boil drinking water and safely prepare meals. Within days of the flood, and with support from HealthCare Nepal donors, our all-volunteer partner organization in Nepal, Sagarmatha Health Foundation, delivered sets of cooking equipment to 100 families: a water container, pots, pans, bowls, utensils, and a pressure cooker.

Sagarmatha Health Foundation (SHF) was founded and is directed by our good friend Dr. Deepak Mahara. In 2015, as Director of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu, Nepal’s largest public hospital, Dr. Mahara guided their response to the devastating earthquake that took 9,000 lives. We are grateful for the tireless commitment of SHF’s members to those in need and for our close working partnership with them since 1999.
